Advance Announcement:

The International Bamberg Summer School in Empirical Education Research is designated toprovide young researchers a forum to deepen their academic skills in specific fields of education research. Furthermore, it provides a forum to discuss their recent research projects with the faculty and the other participants of the summer school. The summer school offers an outstanding opportunity to get into contact with internationally recognized researchers in the interdisciplinary field of empirical education research.

This year’s summer school focuses on institutional settings influencing educational judgments (e.g., teachers’ diagnostic abilities), educational decision making (e.g., families’ selection between secondary school tracks) and learning (e.g., competency gains in private and public schools, as well as learning under different tracking and stratification regimes). Furthermore, the relevance of neighbourhood, school and class composition will be in the focus ofattention. 

The program will be completed by lectures about the role of preschool and the age of school entry for later academic success. Within three and a half days participants will be introduced to important non-individual factors influencing educational processes.

Every participant is expected to present a poster on her / his current research project in one of the poster sessions after the lectures. Registration should be done before August 15.

There is a participation fee of 40 Euro. Furthermore, a CV and a short abstract (no more than one page) outlining the own research topic should be send to sekretariat.biks@unibamberg.de.

Travel and accommodation arrangements need to be organized by the participants. A reminder with the final program and details on assignment and venue will be distributed soon.
