POLNET SUMMER SCHOOL IN GERMANY

The 10th POLNET International Summer School on the Analysis of Political and Managerial Networks will take place on 20 – 25 June 2010 at the New Castle of Meersburg at the Lake Constance, Germany. It is organized by the University of Konstanz in cooperation with the University of Tilburg and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

This hands-on seminar is a basic introduction to social network analysis. It is intended for MA/PhD students, as well as researchers and practitioners, interested in theoretically driven empirical research on networks in the social sciences. The Summer School’s aim is to introduce scholars to the analysis of networks who are conducting or planning to conduct quantitative studies of networks in the fields of public policy, management and organisational science.

Participants will become familiar with the theoretical background as well as the analytical tools UCINET and visone by doing their own analyses for which a data set will be provided.
Participation fee: 350 EUR (includes course material and methods book)

Registration deadline: 31 March 2010 (limited number of participants)
On the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of POLNET, alumni of the summer school are invited to present their network-related research at a special symposium on "Networks in Political and Organizational Life: Concepts and Applications", which will be held June 24 and 25.

This offers participants additional opportunities to learn about applications of network analysis, to meet researchers in the field, and to learn from their experience.
