PhD Scholarship in Railway Technology, Australia

An APAI PhD scholarship is available to work on an ARC Linkage Project to work on the deformation and failure behaviour of high strength rail steels.

The student will carry out experimental study on the mechanical properties and failure behaviour of a series of rail steel grades, and then theoretically and numerically calibrate the material data for investigating wear and rolling contact fatigue in future. Availability
This scholarship is offered once only to one person. Open for applications from November 3, 2010 until March 31, 2011.

Payment Information
The value of this scholarship is AUD27222 (per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years.

Research Information
This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: Aerospace engineering, Civil engineering or Materials engineering. It is required that your study starts no earlier than January 15, 2011 and no later than May 1, 2011.

Eligibility
This scholarship is for study in Australia for those who have achieved Honours 1 (Semester 1), or Honours 2a or equivalent.
