Manipulating APP processing in Alzheimer's disease. The position is part of a research programme, funded by the Health Research Council of New Zealand, focussed on biomarkers and treatment strategies for Alzheimer’s Disease. The HRC programme involves staff and students from both basic and clinical departments, giving students a stimulating collaborative environment in which to study.
The PhD project involves gene transfer to both in vitro and in vivo Alzheimer’s disease models with biochemical and/or electrophysiological or behavioural analysis depending on the candidate. The candidate should express a strong desire to expand their knowledge in particular towards development and application of tools to manipulate gene expression in living neurons and models of neurodegenerative disease.
