The project aims at investigating the formation of small molecules and ices on surfaces under interstellar conditions, with the aim of uncovering the processes underlying interstellar chemical complexity and a possible interstellar molecular origin of life.
Experimental techniques used in the project include Scanning Tunneling Microscopy and Thermal Desorption Spectroscopy.
The PhD project is partly funded under ITN training network LASSIE.
The project will take place at Aarhus University under supervision of associate professor Liv Hornekr, but will also involve visits to other scientific and industrial nodes within the LASSIE network.
Start date: February 1st 2012
Applicants should meet the requirements for employment as an early stage researcher in a Marie Curie ITN training network.
Application procedures:
Applications should be submitted online and include the following enclosures:
- Motivation letter (application)
- CV and publication list, if any
- Diplomas including transcripts*
- One reference
*Please enter your unweighted grade average calculated and based on your transcript’s grading scale, BSc and MSc separately
