The Graduate School of Information Science in Health (GSISH) at Technische Universitat Munchen is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates for a 3-year funded PhD Studentship.

The project aims towards research and development of an innovative robotic assistance device for vitreo-retinal surgery. Till date a few robotic devices exist to assist surgeons for high-precision tasks. However, these devices have limitations in terms of usability and integration and therefore not yet used widely.

Main focus of the research will be development, control and evaluation of a novel apparatus to overcome the current limitations such that inadequateness of prevalent devices and methods can be improved. Such a device would reduce the risk of complications and new perspectives for novel therapeutic strategies may become feasible.
