The University of Cologne offers a position for a researcher in Mathematical Physics. The job opening is for a Postdoctoral Researcher (100% EG 13 TV-L, 39,83 hours / week) and is limited to two years. The preferred starting date ist October 1, 2012, but the beginning of the contract can be adjusted upon mutual agreement.
The position ist associated with a Junior Research Group in Mathematical Physics which is funded by Prof. Zirnbauer's Leibniz Award and led by Dr. Thomas Quella. The interests of the group include topological phases of matter and critical phenomena as well as constructive aspects of quantum field theory and string theory. The group is associated with the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) "Symmetrics and Universality in Mesoscopic Systems" and retains a close cooperation with the groups of Alexander Alldridge and Martin
Zirnbauer.

Candidates must hold a university degree equivalent to the German Diplom and a PhD in Theoretical Physics or nearby branches of Mathematics. They are expected to have a strong background in (conformal) quantum field theory and/or statistical physics and should have research experience in one or more of the subjects mentioned above.
