Scholarship for the year 2010-11 in China

The Short-term Scholarship Scheme for Foreign Teachers of Chinese Language is set up by the Ministry of Education of P. R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE) with a view to help overseas professional teachers of Chinese language to improve their teaching skills and to facilitate the cooperation and exchanges in Chinese language teaching among teachers from different nations.

China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC) is authorized to handle the enrollment and carry out the routine management of this scholarship program. Recruitment quota for 2010 will be specified according to MOE Scholarship Scheme.

Eligibility:
1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, be in good health and under the age of 50.
2. Applicants must be engaged in teaching Chinese for at least three consecutive years and be full-time Chinese teachers for the time being.
3. Applicants must have obtained Bachelor’s degree or above.

Scholarship Benefits:
1. Exemption of tuition fee, fee for basic learning materials; and free accommodation;
2. Free emergency medical care service;
3. One-off living subsidy: CNY 2,000 Yuan;
4. Free transportation, accommodation and meals for the teaching tour (outside Beijing) organized by the admitting institutions.

How to Apply:
The applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely (in duplicate):
1. Application Form for Short-term Scholarship for Foreign Teachers of Chinese Language (filled in Chinese only)
2. Highest diploma (notarized photocopy): Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or English.
3. Recommendation letters: one from a professor engaged in Chinese language teaching and research, and one from the president of the applicant’s institution.
4. Certificate of employment: documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized translations in Chinese or in English.
