For UK residents, 1+3 studentships cover the cost of fees for four years together with a stipend for each year (currently 12,940 pound per annum).

They enable successful applicants to study for the MSc Criminology and Criminal Justice (Research Methods) in the first year, followed by three years of doctoral research leading to the award of a DPhil. +3 studentships cover the cost of fees and provide a stipend for three years of doctoral study.

EU residents are eligible to apply for the studentships, which will cover the cost of their fees (currently around 5,500 pound per annum), and follow the same programmes.
