The welfare regime literature has been the domain of the affluent West even though welfare policies have long existed in Latin America and Eastern Europe and are rapidly expanding in Africa and Asia. This seminar extends the welfare regime debate beyond its traditional borders.
The intention is to explore both theoretically and empirically how welfare policy development in low and middle income countries can be explained and to discuss the social and economic impacts of different welfare regime types. Department of Political Science and Governance.
