Merchandising is a term we used in the last 10 years after management and marketing. Some people knew enough about a certain type of management, and some had heard something about marketing, but about merchandising nobody know nothing because it makes sense only in a context of abundance and not in chronic shortages.
Merchandising refers to the techniques used to sell products to consumers, to promote the sale of goods, especially by their presentation in retail outlets.
The simplest way to define merchandising is to say that it is the way a product is sold. Merchandising is a complex action to put a product in the greatest danger of being sold.
Merchandising assures that the right product is available in the right place, to the right people, and at the right time, at the right price, at the right quantities.
