The University of Canberra started its life as the Canberra College of Advanced Education (CCAE) in 1967 and became a fully-fledged university in 1990, so we're relatively young as far as universities go. We've taken the strengths of our history as the CCAE with its focus on high-quality teaching, innovation and vocational relevance and evolved over time to become a vibrant, forward-looking university.
The main campus, located in the suburb of Bruce about 10 minutes from the city centre, is set on almost 120 hectares of picturesque bushland. Being a single-campus university means that everything is available in the one location, with easy access to the full range of facilities and services. Our size means we can be truly student-centred, with smaller classes and individual attention. The campus is easy to get around and there is a strong sense of community amongst students and staff, with our students saying that they are not just another number in the system, people know each other by name.
