ORGANIZATION Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas was created by Law 26276 on January 3rd, 1994. The university’s main commitment is to form professional leaders, highly qualified and prepared to thrive in an environment of constant change that demands of graduates both theoretical knowledge and concrete problem-solving skills. EDUCATIONAL PROPOSAL Educational Model Based on Competency UPC’s educational model is aimed at training competitive and well-rounded leaders through a program that integrates academic knowledge, practical skills and positive attitudes in preparation for their professional lives. This training is based on UPC’s educational philosophy of developing orientation toward success, communication skills, critical thinking, citizenship, creativity, value-based decision making and entrepreneurial spirits. Active Learning Methodology At UPC the student is not merely an observer in the classroom, he or she is the protagonist. The student learns by doing, thanks to the active-learning methodology applied by faculty members who integrate dynamics with case studies and role playing. Our faculty is trained each academic term on the latest active-learning techniques. Personalized Support Systems for the Student UPC demands from its students a high academic performance. To help students accomplish this, we deliver the following services: advice, counseling and tutoring. The use of audiovisual tools and the possibility of interaction offered by telecommunications and e-mail complement these services. A team of specialists and psychologists are in charge of the personalized programs of advice and tutoring. Our high academic standards are complemented by support in the educational arena and professional psychological guidance to help students understand and solve personal difficulties. In addition, UPC makes every attempt to hire only outstanding professors. The faculty selection criteria include a positive attitude, a rich cultural background and, of course, professional experience.
