The main aerospace engineering topics you study include aerodynamics, aerostructures, flight dynamics and control, propulsion systems, communications, avionics and aircraft materials. The programmes include a three day flight test course in a Jetstream aircraft. Year One includes an approved course in Workshop Practice, a one week icebreaker group project as well as a two week team project to design, build and fly a small aircraft. Year Three offers the exciting prospect of exploring the flight characteristics of the UH-60 Blackhawk and Lynx helicopters in our advanced moving-base flight simulator as part of the Rotorcraft Flight module The four-year Aerospace Engineering BEng programme (H400), is identical to H425 except that students spend their third year of study on an industrial placement.
All students on the BEng streams undertake an individual project in their final year, providing the opportunity to conduct research and develop innovative concepts in their preferred technical area of interest.
