This programme is designed to provide students with a high level of understanding of the design, function, construction and statutory requirements for buildings of all classes, and to prepare them for more advanced employment in the construction industry. The programme consists of a combination of core and optional courses which provide appropriate training in each case for technicians employed in architecture, building surveying, building control, building management or quantity surveying. The courses have been designed to include a significant practical element.
Enrolment on the programme entitles students to become student members of the Chartered Institute of Building. The programme is also recognised nationally and internationally by employers in the construction industry.
Each HNC route comprises ten courses, including core, route-specific and elective courses.Alternatively, each HND route comprises sixteen courses. Exact variations differ depending on the route chosen, but core courses are given here.
