Bachelor of Equine Business and Economics

    Horse business is big business

The horse business is rapidly becoming more professional and is expanding all over the world. The Dutch and the Germans have become key players in this international network. They are highly recognised worldwide for the breeding and trading of sport horses, and for their level of sport performance and the transfer of equine knowledge.

The increasing amount of international transactions - sport horses, equine products and horse knowledge - demands people who combine their interest in horses with sound business knowledge. They must be excellent networkers and possess a talent for organisation. They also need the ability to think outside the box, to spot market opportunities, and to develop and introduce new products. Writing business plans, executing market research and analysing accountancy reports is their second nature.

The course offers a wide range of business topics such as logistics, business analysis, strategy development, finance, accountancy, politics and marketing. And in order to relate to your customers, you also need a solid link to equine science. Therefore topics such as breeding, welfare, behaviour, exercise physiology and nutrition are important elements of your study.

NB. Do you prefer to keep your horse with you during your studies? If so, we can help you find a stable for your horse in the vicinity of Wageningen.
