  • Programme Description

Programme name: Agribusiness and Business Administration Wageningen

    Specialisation: International Horticulture and Marketing

    Look beyond your horizon

Do you feel comfortable sitting smartly dressed at a conference table? And do you feel just as comfortable in working clothes, giving professional advice in the field? Do you wish to operate worldwide, all while having an eye for each individual plant? Then you are probably a good candidate for the major in International Horticulture and Marketing.

Horticulture is becoming increasingly international. Here in the Netherlands we now grow all kinds of exotic products in glasshouses. At the same time, a very traditional Dutch dish of beans may come just as easily from Egypt as from the Dutch province of Brabant. It is becoming increasingly common for Dutch agricultural and horticultural entrepreneurs to move their businesses to other countries with plenty of room to expand - Africa, for instance, or Eastern Europe, or Latin America.

All these companies need to be able to cope with local conditions. Operating in unfamiliar cultures and getting things done, often takes a lot longer than you expect. Add to this the demands made by critical consumers and by constantly changing distribution channels. Now you may get the full picture of this dynamic global sector.
