    Programme Description

Childhood Studies is a multi-disciplinary programme which engages with health, education, psychology, sociology and literature for and about young children. Unlike many early childhood studies courses, children and young people are studied across the age range from 0 to 18, from conception through to adulthood. Linking theory with practice, issues concerning multi-agency working with the young are addressed in a community context.

Students are taught by professionals with backgrounds in a range of children's services, as well as those with research expertise and academic qualifications in many subject areas, including philosophy and anthropology.

    Career options
This programme provides a sound preparation for postgraduate courses in primary teaching, social work, children's nursing and play therapy, as well as further academic study to MA or PhD level. Opportunities exist in education, health and social care and community settings and also in the early years sector.
