    Programme Description

The Faculty of Applied Arts at DIT is uniquely placed in Ireland to offer this new three year BA Honours in the theory and context of the creative industries. The Faculty´s long established reputation for high quality education in the creative and performing arts has always been underpinned by a solid grounding in related theory. This flexible, interdisciplinary programme of study has been designed to capitalise on that tradition. The programme is suitable for anyone interested in the arts and creative industries and allows individuals who have an interest in a specific area, (e.g., Music & Drama or Art & Design) to follow their interests by building a specialised degree pathway for themselves in years two and three. Students on this programe will receive a grounding in the theory of the creative and performing arts supported by relevant modules in Law and Business, giving the degree a practical, real-world focus. They will also be in the unique position of studying alongside students taking practice-based programmes in the Schools of Media, Art & Design and the Conservatory of Music & Drama, and so will be immersed in an atmosphere of creative practice.
