Does the coast belong to everyone?

Many people and groups claim national and international coastal areas. Just think of nature conservationists, fishermen, oil companies and holiday-makers. More people want to have a vote in what is happening with these areas.

The developments in coastal areas are therefore becoming increasingly complex. As a coastal zone manager you must remain focused and principled, for there is often a lot at stake.

Coastal zone issues are not limited to one nation or continent, because seas, oceans and coasts are shared by many. For this reason, you need to be able to function in a multicultural setting, and you must have knowledge of international rules, regulations and cooperation agreements. You will be studying various topics, from ecology and (marine) law to communication and research methods. During your study, you will have plenty of time to discover which line of work suits you best.
