    Programme Description

Why do strawberries taste so good? A question that not all sciences can answer. Not so with molecular biology: Actually, it is reactions on the molecular level that are responsible for the fruity-sweet taste. And this is exactly where molecular biology starts: It is situated at the interface between biology and chemistry and forms the basis of a number of applications, for instance, in biotechnology, genetic engineering or biomedicine. The bachelor´s programme provides future molecular biologists with fundamental knowledge. The spectrum ranges from general scientific knowledge in chemistry and biology to microbiology, cell biology, molecular biology, and genetics.

Just as in any other scientific programme, students of molecular biology have to have a general interest in the natural sciences and be able to work precisely. And those who are good at working with their hands, enjoy experimenting, know their way around computers, and also have the psychological stamina needed for intensive laboratory work have the necessary rerequisites to be successful in the study programme.

NAWI Graz - Competence to the Second Power

The Molecular Biology programme at NAWI Graz is offered as a joint programme of Graz University of Technology and the Karl-Franzens University. For students this means that they can profit from the outstanding achievements and the competences of two universities - an absolute novelty in Austria!
