    Programme Description

The need to reduce or replace the use of carbon based fuels with other more renewable and sustainable forms of electrical energy generation is well established. Recent national and international legislation and agreements are designed to reduce the amount of CO2 produced by everyone, domestically and industrially, both for environmental and cost saving reasons. This requires a new generation of engineers with expertise in electrical engineering, sustainable power engineering and energy saving technologies and techniques.

This programme is based upon the School of Engineerings successful BEng Hons Electrical Engineering programme, sharing the first and most of the second year. Specialist courses are introduced in the second year and final year where students undertake an individual project in sustainable electrical power generation.

    Aims of the programme
    * To develop graduates in Sustainable Electrical Power Engineering with the necessary skills and attributes to take key roles within industry as professional engineers.
    * To develop graduates who can apply fundamental principles and techniques to produce creative and innovative design solutions to sustainable electrical power engineering problems.
    * Equip students with an awareness of sustainable electrical power engineering in the wider economic and social context.
