    Programme Description

As an animal scientist you work not only with farm animals such as cows, pigs and poultry, but also with fish. You can also choose to study companion animals, such as horses, dogs and cats, pet rodents and so forth. Animal health plays an important role. You investigate how animal diseases can be prevented, for example by means of good nutrition, effective housing and by designing good breeding programmes. You can therefore provide a real contribution to animal welfare and food safety; these are topics that are not only the focus of interest in the Netherlands and in Europe, but also throughout the world.

In order to find a solution to such complex problems, you must have a lot to offer. And therefore we make sure you are well prepared. In your programme, you study a number of biological subareas, such as physiology, genetics, ethology and ecology. Of course, you also learn a great deal about business processes in subjects such as business economics, business administration and marketing.

Within the MSc Animal Sciences you can choose from various specialisations. Each of the specialisations trains you to become an expert in the field.
