The MA in Buddhist Studies is taught within the Centre for Buddhist Studies (consisting of a research group of staff and associated members) in the Department of Theology and Religious Studies. The Centre is a research centre which aims to promote academic Buddhist research in the South West of England. The University has an excellent collection of books on Buddhism, including texts in Pali, Sanskrit, Chinese and Tibetan. The MA offers you the opportunity for a detailed study of Buddhism, in Theravada, East Asian and Indo-Tibetan forms and includes a compulsory linguistic element. The MA will serve as an excellent basis for those planning research degrees in the field of Buddhist Studies.
