    Programme Description

Consumer affairs is a world-rising field in research and higher education. It analyses consumers in their economic, social and ecological environment. The demand from corporate and governmental sectors as well as consumer organizations for higher education graduates in the field of Consumer Affairs is very high.

The purpose of this new specialisation within MME is to improve the supply of highly educated and qualified employees in the field of Consumer Affairs. For this reason Wageningen University will offer European Consumer Affairs together with the Aarhus University (Denmark), the Technische Universität München (Germany) and Warsaw University of Life Sciences (Poland). The language of instruction will be English and students will be encouraged to spend a semester at a Partner University as an exchange student with a generous grant and the possibility to graduate with a double degree within four semesters (two years).

EURECA is a master´s programme for students who are interested in consumers in their economic, social and ecological environments. Applicants should have at least a bachelor´s degree in socio-economics (e.g. business administration, economics and sociology) or in science/engineering with a Consumer Affairs orientation.

Beside the basics of Consumer Affairs (36 ECTS), students are required to choose two out of the following seven specializations:

    • Consumer Affairs Management (Aarhus)
    • Consumer Studies (Wageningen)
    • Consumer Technology and Innovation (Munich)
    • Food Policy and Management (Warsaw)
    • Marketing (Aarhus)
    • Marketing Management (Wageningen)
    • Sustainable Consumption (Munich)

The specialisations `Consumer Studies´ and `Marketing Management´ are offered by Wageningen University.

    Exchange possibility:

1 semester at a partner university, supported by grants amounting to 500 euros/month (max. 20 student grants per EURECA-University and year)

    Career opportunities

Upon graduation, students will be academically trained consumer experts primarily in the fields of their specialisations. They will be able to seek employment at a wide variety of employers, including companies and their affiliates, government agencies, consumer associations, research institutes and consultancies. EURECA offers students the best chances in companies and institutions with a European and international orientation, especially after having participated in an exchange programme or by graduating with a double degree.
