This taught MSc programme in NanoBio Science brings the student to the forefront in the most recent science at the Nano and Bio interface. Both the areas of Nano and Bio are important in their own right and combined have become of utmost importance and will continue to be so for years to come. The programme prepares the student to follow and contribute to future developments in this multi-disciplinary area with numerous important research and development possibilities.
Modules covered include: Nanooptics & Biophotonics, Computational Biophysics, Physics of Nanomaterials, Biophysics at the Nanoscale, Spectroscopy & Lasers, Biomimicry, Nanomechanics, Atomic Force Microscopy, Bio-fluid Mechanics, Programming & Interfacing, Innovation and Industry, Journal Club & Presentationskills, as well as an optional international conference trip.
Current MSc projects include molecular modelling, imaging and analysis, atomic force microscopy, and sub diffraction-limited optical imaging. Career options include biomedical technologies, pharmaceutical industry and drug development, sustainable energy, academic and industrial research.
