  • Programme Description

    Programme Description

The principal goal of this program is to educate scholars who will become faculty members in leading international business schools or universities.

It is focused on quality (max. 3 students recruited per year, per concentration) and ensures the research production of students through high-quality supervision and training.

It is a 4 to 5-year program: the first two years consist of courses, seminars plus joint research projects with faculty members and ends with a comprehensive examination. The remaining 2 or 3 years are devoted to dissertation work.

The production and co-production of rigorous, high impact research is one of the requirements of the program, making Ph.D graduates highly attractive on the academic job market.

Four concentrations are proposed to prospective students: 1) Marketing, 2) Organizational Theory and Human Resources Management 3) Strategy and Management of Innovation and 4) Finance.

    The context

AACSB forecasts a severe shortage of professors holding a Ph.D in business administration by 2012: The principal goal of this program is thus to produce scholars who will become faculty members in leading international business schools or universities.

Why Choose the Grenoble Ecole de Management Ph.D program?

    • Grenoble Ecole de Management is one of the few business schools to hold the three accreditations distinguishing the best business schools in the world. Leading business schools or universities worldwide only recruit faculty holding a Ph.D from an AACSB-accredited institution.
    • 15 years experience in Doctoral education with 2 DBA programs, one of which is AMBA-accredited.
    • Experimental laboratory to conduct experiments (14 isolated cubicles, subject pool)
    • Academic ranking: The national magazine le Point 2010 placed Grenoble Ecole de Management in 7th position nationally and in 3rd position ahead of other recognized Grandes Ecoles such as ESCP Europe or EM Lyon Business School for research activities based mainly on academic publications (CNRS ranking).
    • High pedagogical quality: Pedagogical innovation and quality has always been part of our culture. This is for instance illustrated by the publication of a book entitled "Faire de la Recherche en Sciences de Gestion" (Doing Academic Research in Management Sciences - Pearson Education) co edited and co written by Grenoble Ecole de Management Faculty.
The financial aid available during studies (tuition waiver and research assistantship).
