Programme Description
The specialisation in Economics is designed to give solid training in performing high quality scientific research in economics, making use of economic theory and econometric methods that reflect the state of the art in modern economic research.
The programme prepares students for the international academic job market, for positions in research organisations and consulting firms, as well as national and international institutions like central banks, the IMF and the World Bank.
Distinguishing Features of the Specialisation
- All PhD students will work closely with members of faculty and they will be included in the research activities of the Department
- In regard to specialization courses and PhD-seminars, The Department cooperates with the Department of Finance at BI as well as with The Department of Economics at the University of Oslo, located close to BI.
- The Nordic Network in Economics offers a wide range of advanced PhD courses in economics
- Students are encouraged to make a long-term visit to a foreign university that is part of the Department´s international network.
