Supported by EPSRC a studentship of up to £13,290 p.a. for three years plus fees* is available

Cranfield University´s Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Centre, a pioneering centre of excellence with core partners Boeing, BAE Systems, Rolls-Royce, Meggitt and Thales, is seeking a motivated graduate to undertake an exciting research opportunity. The project aims to devise an end-to-end IVHM system for an aero-engine simulator.

IVHM technology informs existing concepts of vehicle maintenance, repair and overhaul by offering a total health check for high-tech, high-value vehicles such as aircraft, ships, high-speed trains and high-performance cars. This research is one of the pioneering projects within Cranfield IVHM Centre, where an end-to-end system is to be developed from concept to realization. More specifically this research will develop health-monitoring strategies and system-level prognostics models, which incorporate failure mechanisms, failure detection capability, sensor suite, data acquisition and communication of information to a ground-based operation room. Also, where needed, a sensor fusion strategy will be considered for failure detections.

The technology developed as part of this project will be transferred to our industrial partners.
