3rd International Summer School on Open and Collaborative Governance

The 3rd Summer School on Open and Collaborative Governance (OpenGov2015) organized by the University of the Aegean in Samos island in collaboration with Instituto Superiore Mario Boella from Italy and Delft University of Technology from Netherlands, under the auspices of Hellenic Parliament and the Greek Ministry of Administration Reform and e-Government, provides a unique opportunity for participants to interact with internationally acclaimed scientists and researchers in the domain of ICT-enabled Governance, to develop their skills in the areas of policy modelling, information management, social media in governance and more. The topics covered by the OpenGov 2015 Summer School cover a wide span of information and communication technologies and social science issues, under the following thematic areas:-%09Open and Linked Data applications and technologies-%09Global Systems Science approaches for evidence-based decision making and policy support-%09Social media and web 2.0 platforms and services for governance-%09Policy modelling and electronic policy deliberation (e-participation)-%09Big data management technologies in policy support-%09Interoperable infrastructures and cloud technologies for open and collaborative governance scenarios-%09Citizens%E2%80%99 opinion mining and sentiment analysis-%09Technical, semantic and organisational Interoperability-%09Legal, security and trust issues in open governanceCourses will be offered in various ways, including lectures, tutorials, collaborative workshops and round table discussions. Most importantly, the Summer School will include showcasing and hands-on experience with innovative platforms and services that are under development in a number of collaborative research projects.

Target group
The OpenGov summer school is open to pre- and post-graduate, MSc and PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and practitioners in the areas of Information and Communication Technologies, Management and Social Sciences. Successful candidates must show a promising academic or business track in the scientific areas of the Summer School.

Course aim
The aim of the OpenGov Summer School is to enable participants involvement in "Open and Collaborative Governance" issues (such as open data, croudsourcing, accurate and analytical modeling and simulation tools, data analysis, mining and visualization technologies), and offer appropriate additional skills towards shaping a successful researcher, a competitive employee and an well-informed citizen.

Credits info
3 ECTS A total of 3 ECTS points will be granted to successful participants,that will complete a research paper, to be assigned during the e-GOV Summer School and delivered 6 weeks after the end of the Summer School.
