Barcelona: Music and Movement

This course is designed to introduce participants to the diverse forms of music they can encounter in Barcelona, which range from traditional Catalan folk music to a variety of new styles such as Afrobeat, Reggae and Black Music. Through this musical journey, students will develop an understanding of the different styles and of the relationship between music, physical expression and sociability, all of which are important skills in education.The course will include visits to emblematic buildings in the city, such as the Palau de la M%C3%BAsica, and also will include the participation of musicians who will play the kind of music the music studied at the course.Sessions will focus on a variety of themes, including the following:1. Music, movement and creativity2. Catalan folk dances and games3. Basic aspects of music and the ability to dance4. Visit to the Palau de la M%C3%BAsica5. African and Nord American music6. The evolution of the guitar in Africa and Spain7. The guitar in Mali (with guest musicians from Africa)8. Afrobeat and its influences9. Trends in %E2%80%9Cblack music%E2%80%9D and %E2%80%9Cwhite music%E2%80%9D

EUR 500: Vat Included. Registration can be completed online or in person. Registration opens on 9 February and closes seven days before a course starts.
