Ayse Balyemez graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Ceramic and Glass Design in 2003. She worked for 5 years, as a designer for the ceramic tableware industry. In 2009 she attained a Master's degree from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, S
Target group
The course will appeal to beginners, students and professionals who have an interest in surface design and ceramics and want to increase their understanding of materials and processes involved.Outcomes: Students will finish this course with work for their portfolio, the beginnings of a portfolio, new skills that can be applied.
Course aim
The course will involve idea generation and design research, so you are encouraged to bring visuals with you from your time in Istanbul, such as patterns or photographs which can be used as inspiration for designs.You will be taught through practical workshops and demonstrations all the processes and techniques involved in ceramic transfer production. You will learn how to:Modify imagery using PhotoshopDesign and create artwork ready for print productionExpose artwork to create screensHow to mix enamels, print and cover coat ceramic transfersHow to apply transfers to ceramic objectsBone china mugs, plates and tiles are provided, as well as the pieces created in Istanbul.The pieces will be fired during and after the course. Students will need to be available after the course finishes to collect work.
