Since 1999 China and Austria are building bridges by working together and jointly organizing yearly Summer Schools for young people to get more knowledge of both countries. The Summer Schools give interested participants a chance to gain insights into a new culture and a different political, economical and legal system in China, Austria and Europe.The "Modern China Studies for Scientists and Economists" Summer School takes place at the Nortwest University in Xi'an, Peking University and at the Fudan University in Shanghai, China. There are different teaching modules held in English. Lectures involve topics such as economics, politics, the legal system and cross-cultural management in China. The students also have the opportunity to meet Austrian bank representatives and lawyers working in China. The Summer School participants also pay a visit to joint-venture companies in Beijing and Shanghai.

To be eligible to apply,You are a student or scientist from an Austrian/European university, university of applied sciences, or another institution of higher education in EuropeYou are an employee preferably of an international company or a company which wants to go internationalYou have a good command of the English language/no command of Chinese language needed!
Course aim
Targets of the program:China-experience for young Austrian/European students and junior employeesAcquisition of additional qualifications useful for a potential future career in East AsiaPreparing for future trading markets by becoming acquainted with the legal and economic system, labor and production processes, social and environmental situation, culture and living conditions in ChinaObtaining a basic command of the Chinese language

5 ECTS Successful participants of the Summer School have the possibility to claim 5 ECTS points at their home institution.
Fee info
EUR 0: The costs of Euro 2.900,-- (without airfare) include the full program fees of the Chinese universities and of the accompanying programs, the accommodation in a student residence (in single bedroom including breakfast) and 4 as well as 5 star hotels (in two-bed rooms, including breakfast and internet), the train ride between Xi'an and Beijing as well as Beijing and Shanghai, an organisation fee amounting to Euro 250,--. For the flight, depending on the airline, the participants may have to pay between Euro 800 to 1.100. The aforementioned costs can be seen as appraisals and serve as a reference point. Changes of overall costs is subject to change due to (among other reasons) currency fluctuations.
Scholarships
Participants, studying at Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences, which are members of the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet, will be granted a scholarship probably in the amount of EURO 500 by the Eurasia-Pacific Uninet.
