Criminal Law and International Procedural Law. Economic violations. Money laundering in the EU

This course, led by mainstreaming and interdisciplinarity between the world of Law and Economics, as well as between the Criminal Law, the International Law and Procedural Law, too; will begin with an introduction of this subject, that is especially complex and characterized by the multiplicity of different sources overlapping and, in turn, that has born both from national and international legal systems, and that have been applied through the legal systems of different countries. Topics for discussion will address, among other topics, on the following essential details which, as we have anticipated, will be exposed in a theory and practical way; and also from a comparative point of view:This course is designed to be lectured at two locations: The University of Barcelona (UB) in Spain and at the University of Andorra (UdA) in Andorra.1. Types of economic crime in the Comparative Criminal Law. Procedural and criminal aspects.2. International crimes:- Production and trafficking.- The transnational organized crime.- Attacks on the environment.- The counterfeiting.- The trafficking.- Contraband.International Terrorism.- Fraud and Misappropriation.- Banking secrecy.3. The criminal liability of corporations.4. International cooperation of authorities in criminal matters:- Judicial cooperation: extradition; legal assistance.- Police cooperation. Special reference to the European arrest warrant and human rights protection.

Target group
this course will assessed, under the parameters set by the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Program), the course attendance and active participation in debates that will arise in it. At the end of the Summer School, we will issue a CERTIFICATE to the students, to recognize them not only their participation in the course, but also that they had achieve the targets set in the program.

Course aim
At the end of this course the students should have covered the following learning objectives:Objective 1: The knowledge of national and international sources about the subjects that have been analyzed in this course.Objective 2: They should get a minimum knowledge on offenses which, firstly are affecting an interests that is being protected by national and international law; and secondly, that contain elements of transnationality.Objective 3: Thay should know the international criminal law instruments that have been created to regulate police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters.Objective 4: They should get both a theoretical and practical view of all kind of solutions in Comparative (civil law and common law) law that are being offered in relation to criminal and civil responsibility of corporations, which may be involved in criminal proceedings caracter.
