Csound, a Crash Course!

Tallinn Summer School and the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre offer a special workshop in music.The course is for absolute beginners in Csound, a programming language for audio synthesis. The content of the course includes (but is not limited by): Introduction to Csound (orchestra, score, csd), control variables, opcode, additive synthesis, subtractive synthesis and granular synthesis. Each participant should bring his/her own laptop (PC or Macintosh) and headphones. Study materials will be provided by the teacher.Before the 1st meeting, students can download and install Csound from: http://sourceforge.net/projects/csound/
Course leader
The course is led by Paolo Girol, MA (Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre).
Target group
The course is open to all people passionate about music who would like to learn about sound synthesis. Some knowledge in programming and fundamentals of acoustics is beneficial, but not required.
Course aim
By the end of the course students will acquire the basic knowledge in Csound. They will be able to create their own sounds and acquire the necessary basis for further independent studies.
Credits info
No credits will be awarded. The students will get the summer school certificate of participation.
