Designing a digital nation

Growing digitization is a global phenomenon and will contribute to quality of the economy, social development and public administration for all nations in the coming decades. In this module you learn to explore current trends and innovations and its possible effects on society. The module will actively work on possible policies stimulating future digital developments for societies. The Netherlands is one of the leading countries in the development of the information society and it provides first hand examples of possible developments.The module will consist of lectures by guest top experts in different fields. In workshops you will be invited to reflect on the possibilities of such developments for each of your individual societies. The result of the module is a presentation on the possible design of a digital nation infrastructure for your country. You will visit highly developed digital organisations like the Municipality of The Hague, the Regional Coordination of Safety The Hague and The Netherlands Institue for Sound and Vision.

Target group
The program is open to anyone who has completed their high school diploma (or equivalent) and has completed at least their first year bachelor degree level education. Applicants whose native tongue is not English, should have a good knowledge of the English language (Level B2 or higher). The Hague Summer School reserves the right to determine if applicants English language level is appropriate.

Credits info
4 ECTS The Hague Summer School are assigned ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). The amount of credits for each course depends on whether you choose the two or four week program. The two week program is worth 4 ECTS. It consists of a general module worth 1 ECTS and an elective module worth 3 ECTS. The four week program is worth 8 ECTS. It contains two general modules worth 2 ECTS and two elective modules worth 6 ECTS. Detailed program descriptions and outlines will be provided to the students to facilitate the credit transfer.

EUR 1499: Two week programme of The Hague Summer School The 2 week course costs 1.499,- for the full package, including tuition fee, housing, and in-programme activities & lunch. EUR 2998: Four week program of The Hague Summer The 4 week course costs 2.999,- for the full package, including tuition fee , housing , and in-programme activities & lunch.
