DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES IN CULTURAL HERITAGE & TOURISM

The summer school offers familiarization of participants with the new technologies applied to cultural heritage, providing the current state-of-the-art, innovation, trends. In particular provides theory and practice on 1) portable methods and fieldwork in archaeological sciences (archaeometry) for analysis of artifacts and location of buried antiquities (XRF and geophysical prospection), 2) the 3D digitization theory %E2%80" current state-of-the-art techniques, post-processing software %E2%80" the case of objects as well as the case of monuments, urban places, sites and open spaces, 3) 3D Digitization of cultural objects (laboratory: 3D digitization of objects using photographic techniques (shape-from-silhouette and structure-from-motion), 4) 3D Digitization of monuments (on-site: 3D digitization of monuments using photographic (structure-from-motion, e.g. balloon & drones UAV) and laser scanning techniques (time-of-flight) & laboratory: processing of 3D scans into 3D models, 5) Cultural repositories, description of cultural heritage, international standards (introduction to cultural databases, metadata schemas and international standards, Europeana, Case studies and examples of cultural data management), 6) Applications for cultural heritage & tourism (available state-of-the-art technologies for cultural heritage presentation, dissemination, interactive and immersive experience & creation of interactive virtual exhibitions, walkthroughs, museums, database and QR-code based applications using web-based technologies for cultural heritage and tourism), 7) Creation of virtual reality applications for cultural heritage and tourism using state-of-the-art game engine technologies. Course aim
The aim of this accredited Summer School at Delphi 11 days is the learning of use of digital technologies applied to documentation and promotion of cultural heritage and cultural tourism. Includes:1 day introduction to the current state-of-the-art and trends for future innovation2 days theory and practice on digital archaeometry3 days theory and practice on 3D digitization1 day introduction to cultural databases, repositories and international standards3days theory and practice on the development of 3D applications, Daily fieldwork in Terrestrial and Aerial Structure from Motion (SfM) photographic data recording and processing.

EUR 1000: The fees include:9 hours fieldwork and practice per day,stationary,transportation to museums and archaeological sites,offer of local cultural tourism flavors (local food, environmental landscapes, history of the Delphi),two meals per day (a midday snack and one evening meal),11 Days Accommodation B&B at single orshared double rooms,transportation from Athens Airport to Delphi, The Fees DO NOT cover the following expenses:flight tickets and transport to the site
