Possibly Rome is the most photographed city all over the world.However it offers always new sides to be discovered: its centuries-old beauty, inhabitants, life and its unique atmosphere.Moving by a fascinating photo journey, the workshop looks at realizing a photobook to be developed by participants under supervision by the tutors.Inside the project. Do you know how does an Art Director work? Would you like to know the steps they go through to create the appeal fashion spread you find in a photobook? This course will guide you through the processes, the study, the theoretical and practical phases of work and will prepare the right approach to the editorial design and publishing. The project is going in three suggested itineraries.Ancient RomeRome in the RenaissanceRome in the twentieth century.Of course, each participant will be able to find his individual photo theme.

Target group
Students in graphic design having an interest in entrepreneurship, creativity.IOS operating system 10 - Adobe CS6Required equipment: an ordinary digital camera with accessories.
Course aim
The project will be developed to reach the final realization by digital print of a photobook.Working method of the course visits and collective analysis; "Graphic walks";internal brainstorming; critical analysis of the subjects and the iconographic materials; suggestions and methods to produce a book: study of the graphic layout and the grids, texts and images editing;the basic peculiarities of a photobook: the selection, sequencing and editing of the book structure;development of the concept and definition of design guidelines, intermediate rough presentation, layout and finish layout of the maquette;print of the book by digital methodologyThe course will end with a collective show of all the projects.
Credits info
8 ECTS Upon successful completion you will receive a certificate to say you have attended and achieved a level of attainment expected by our academic staff. If you wish to receive credit you will need to arrange this with your faculty at home before you attend. QDU can supply module specifications to assist in calculating a credit equivalency. As a guide the summer programme is equivalent to 4 ECTS per week.
