This module runs in both sessions: June 13 - July 4, and July 4 - July 25.English is the key language for communication in international business. Acquisition of communicative competence and the range of skills necessary to perform in business will provide students with a competitive edge when entering the job market. This course will focus on language as a tool for communication in business rather than general language knowledge. It will enable students from a range of backgrounds to develop both spoken and written skills in a general business environment through task-based activities using authentic materials and company case studies.

Course aim
This module aims to:Enable students to produce a range of written materials (emails, reports, minutes for meetings, agendas) Improve spoken communication skills in person and over the phone Build students confidence to interact effectively in business meetings for example asking for opinions, emphasising a point, interrupting and handling interruptions and requesting clarificationExpand students' knowledge of general business terminology and expressionsEnable students to participate in negotiations (resolving difficulties, conversation repairs, handling difficult clients and achieving consensus)Develop students' awareness of cultural differences and challenges in business communities.
