Evaluation of Public Health Programmes and Policies

This course covers the conceptual and methodological basis of the evaluation of public health intervention, including the conceptual framework for evaluation, the main threats to internal validity, and the key evaluative designs in this field. The course combines theory classes with the discussion of real examples and group exercises.The main topics are as follows:%E2%80%A2 Definition and main types of evaluation%E2%80%A2 Key issues in evaluation%E2%80%A2 Conceptual framework and formulation of objectives%E2%80%A2 Characteristics of a good indicator and measurement techniques%E2%80%A2 Threats to internal validity in evaluative studies%E2%80%A2 Process evaluation%E2%80%A2 Impact evaluation%E2%80%A2 Main evaluative designs in public healthThis course forms part of a group of three complementary courses, together with Data Analysis and Experimental Design with R, and Public Health: Updating Methods and Topics.
