Fashion Communication - IED Florence

The course focuses on the basic skills and techniques employed in styling, photographing and producing fashion shoots. Students divide their time between working with instructors, photo studio time and visits to Italian fashion retailers and museums. They will learn to photograph fashion in diverse settings and stage a group exhibition as a final project.

The program is meant for students of the Fashion, Styling, Communication, Photography or Design fields. Professionals of similar fields looking to improve their portfolios or gain a new focus or perspective are also eligible to take part in the program.

Course aim
Schedule: This course meets Monday to Thursday with morning and afternoon sessions for a total of 75 contact hours.Level and Pre-requisites: Introductory course; no previous studies within the field are required. However students are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the major themes that will be presented:Fashion PhotographyLearning Outcomes: Problem solving skills, budgeting, team work, group conceptualization through role playing exercises and workplace simulations. Develop a mastery of fashion styling and photography techniques. Design and execution of fashion shoots and postproduction with a final class exhibit of the looks portrayed through the student's work.Topics Covered: Basic principles of photography, techniques and principles of photography, post-production (video and imaging), video languages, use of new and traditional media.
