Good practices in the use of mouse models for biomedical research
calendar_month 29 Iul 2015, 00:00
The program of the PHENOMIN thematic school consists of invited speakers' talks, work sessions on selected scientific and/or methods issues, oral sessions of the attendees, poster sessions. The school will cover the different fields of mouse phenogenomics, ranging through 5 topics from state-of-the-art mouse genetics, mutagenesis, mouse colony management, phenotyping human diseases and data management (statistical approaches). Importantly, some freely-available resources that link model organism genes to human diseases will be presented to promote a better understanding of the mammalian genome. Approximately 37 invited experts are expected at the school.Mornings are devoted to seminars whereas afternoons are devoted to "practical sessions" needing the active attendees%E2%80%99 participation (poster session, oral communication, work group).
Course leader
PHENOMIN, as a large scale national infrastructure for Biotechnology and Health, provides services for all French laboratories and also be a major player in the international strategic phenogenomics effort.
Target group
The target audience consists of Master's degrees or researchers who directly or indirectly use mouse as animal model for scientific research. We encourage both industrial and academic researchers, postdocs and PhDs from all Europe to attend this school. The school involves French and European major infrastructures, thought its INFRAFRONTIER partnership.
Course aim
general objective: PHENOMIN offers an international training of excellence providing master's degrees, engineers, PhDs and researchers with an innovative program focused on best practices in the use of the mouse model for biomedical research; this program also addresses the item of continuing professional education consistent with the new European directive requirement for lab animal protection in experiments. The school will provide a wealth of information on good practices in the use of mouse model (standardized techniques, ethics, regulations, analysis, data and resources ...) to support attendees in their research: Accelerating the sharing of conceptual scientific advances, transfer of method to use of the mouse model for biomedical research: the issues of mouse genetics, mutagenesis, phenotyping, mouse colony management, and archiving- distribution lines of genetically modified mice will be covered.Support participants in the use of current European and international resources on mouse phenogenomics: cryopreservation, distribution and phenotyping data for lines already characterized and available to the scientific community.
