Poverty remains a strong reality in the developing world, even in countries which experience high growth rates. It is also on the rise in many %E2%80" if not all %E2%80" developed countries. To fight poverty, philanthropic action, public authorities and international institutions have shown their limits. Quite the opposite is the situation of forward-looking firms, who develop creative market-based solutions to alleviate poverty, sometimes in partnership with civil society and public authorities. Social enterprises with innovative business models are emerging worldwide and an increasing number of established firms have realized that it is in their own interest to develop inclusive business models.In this innovative summer program, we will examine the following:> the set of reasons that prompt firms to contribute to poverty alleviation> innovative business models firms adopt when fighting poverty> how firms can transform themselves when seeking to become more inclusive & sustainableWe will also examine the pivotal role of social entrepreneurs and %E2%80%9Cintrapreneurs%E2%80%9D inside large multinationals, both in emerging and developed countries. Lastly, we will study innovative ways to finance these initiatives and to market them.

Course aim
The HEC Paris Summer School Program on Inclusive and Social Business helps students understand the role that firms today can play in alleviating poverty. Students leave the summer program well equipped to propose real-world solutions to today's societal challenges.Summer school students work in diverse teams, hand-in-hand with top HEC Paris professors, and in interaction with leading experts.

Credits info
7 ECTS 3 US credits or 7 ECTS credits are offered upon successful course completion. Each student is expected to validate the possibility of credit transfer with their home institution.

Fee info
EUR 2220: Program fees include: full tuition, on-campus accommodation, student card, welcome barbecue and weekend bus transportation during the program from campus to downtown Paris.

Scholarships
2015 HEC Paris Summer scholarships will be awarded to selected applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, exceptional character and intellectual curiosity. All scholarships are merit-based. Applications are due by February 10, 2015.
