Innovative Use of Natural Construction Materials
calendar_month 29 Iul 2015, 00:00
During the course, the participants will be introduced to ecological planning (sun-architecture, permaculture design principles) and an %E2%80%9Eart object%E2%80%9C will be made out of natural materials such as straw, clay, sand and branches. Groups will construct elements of the %E2%80%9Eart object%E2%80%9Cand also discuss topics like natural building in Europe and living naturally and sustainably in cities. For innovative art creation, only materials with low a carbon footprint will be used. Participants will learn about design and construction and this knowledge can be used later to design and construct any room or living space according to ecological planning principles.Topics of the coursePlanning a home using ecological design principlesHow to plan and construct a home considering the impact on natureHow significant is environmental sustainability when using these principles and what are the positive aspects for our health when living in such homesPermaculturePrinciples of permaculture will be given so that individuals can design their own environments and build increasingly self-sufficient human settlements %E2%80" ones that reduce the society's reliance on industrial systems of production and distribution that Mollison identified as fundamentally and systematically destroying Earth's ecosystems.Construction materials from natureWhat do we need to know for finding suitable building materials from nature. How to prepare raw materials for use and how to apply it to the building process. What are the positive aspects using these materials compared to conventional materials.

Course leader
The course is led by EDE trainer and facilitator, Natural Builder and consultant Sven Aluste.

Target group
The course is open to all people interested in the subject.

Course aim
After participating in the course, the participants will know how to plan and design a house which would have a healthy indoor climate and be environmentally friendly, as well as how to design and arrange the outer environment in a sustainable manner. Students will be able to see the different ways to reuse building materials, and also to create art from carbon negative materials.
