Target group
The course is designed for advanced Bachelor's and Master's level students of humanities and social sciences.
Course aim
The course provides students with the analytical apparatus to critically investigate the construction of nation and nationalist manifestations across Europe from various disciplinary vantage points. The students will deepen their knowledge on how to approach the study of nations in contemporary Europe. They will learn key concepts, several theoretical standpoints and research approaches. They will also have the opportunity to engage first-hand in the examination of selected case studies during the workshops. This will enable them to critically discuss how different theoretical approaches may be best suitable for the study of particular topics, and help them to justify their choice by solidly anchoring it in existing scholarship across various disciplines.
