New Venture Creation and Entrepeneurship

The creation of new ventures is of central importance to economies around the world. New ventures include start-ups but also new activities by corporate firms, the further development or take-over of existing firms, and university spin-offs. This course examines the economic, social and ecological aspects of new ventures using a sustainable entrepreneurship approach. It is offered by the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship, a joint institute of the University of Amsterdam and VU University Amsterdam.
Course leader
prof dr Enno Masurel; VU University Amsterdam is responsible for the content and organisation of the course, as well as practical matters such as housing.
Target group
Bachelor's students from all disciplines (not only Business Studies) who are interested in the subject of New Venture Creation and Entrepreneurship. The aim is to have a very diverse and international group of students.
Course aim
After the successful completion of this course, the student will be familiar with the most recent theories in new venture creation and be able to start his/her own enterprise, in any national or regional context.
