PH4: Introduction to Inflationary Cosmology
calendar_month 29 Iul 2015, 00:00
The structure in the universe today arguably originates from tiny quantum fluctuations generated during inflation in the very early universe. The lectures provide a concise introduction to elementary inflationary physics and its current observational status. The key aspects of inflationary dynamics and the generation of primordial perturbations are discussed in light of a simple example of a concrete inflationary model. Non-minimal extensions and their relation to the underlying high energy physics are also briefly discussed.

Course leader
Lecturer: Dr. Sami Nurmi (University of Helsinki, Finland)Coordinator: Prof. Kimmo Kainulainen (University of Jyvskyl, Finland)

Target group
No prior knowledge of inflationary physics is assumed. The Summer School annually offers courses for advanced master's students, graduate students, and post-docs in the various fields of science and information technology.

Course aim
The most important aims of the Summer School are to develop post-graduates scientific readiness and to offer students the possibility to study in a modern, scientific environment and to create connections to the international science community.

Credits info
2 ECTS Passing: Obligatory attendance at lectures. Active participation to the lectures, and demonstrations is required to pass the course.Grading: Pass/fail

Fee info
EUR 0: Participating the Summer School is free of charge, but student have to cover the costs of own travel, accommodation and meals at Jyvskyl.
