Planning the Cycling City | GSSS

Target group
- Master's and graduate students in the field of urban planning have priority. - Undergraduates in their final years, majoring in urban studies or related, are welcome to apply. - Those not in the field of urban planning are also welcome to apply, but should make clear in their motivation letter why they believe they qualify for the programme.

Course aim
Urban cycling (all subjects will actively compare the Netherlands/Amsterdam with student contexts)- History of urban cycling and current trends- Power relations in policy: institutional frameworks- The importance of the land use component- Streams and wayfinding: facility design and network development- Bicycle culture and effects: from a social and geographical position- Info matters: bicycle data collection and performance measurements- Anatomy of the Dutch bicycle plan- Dendriles and wormholes: the bike andtrain system- Images: marketing as policy instrument
