Project Lab - From an idea to project proposal

Projects are everywhere %E2%80" in construction and software engineering, in science, medicine, public administration, NGOs and in education. Today, it is a common way for organizations of all sizes and profiles to carry out different types of unique and temporary tasks. The major employers of graduates view students%E2%80%99 competence to understand and organize project-based operations as one of core employability competencies.But, how an idea is transferred into viable project proposal? What is the thinking behind well planned and structured projects? How an idea is tested and fitted to thematic framework? These are the central questions we focus on at our summer school. The program aims to introduce the range of issues related to idea-proposal interface %E2%80" factors that affect projects, the tools and techniques for idea development and project planning, and to help students to develop the skills, knowledge, attributes and behaviors needed for winning projects.Upon completing the summer school, students should be able to:1. Define a project, its basic structure, and project life cycle2. Carefully study the guidelines and thematic windows3. Identify the problem(s)4. Generate and formulate project idea using a divergent approach to problem-solving, through the analysis and presentation of views on project problems / situations5. Understand cross-cultural issues and global context6. Identify possible partners, stakeholders and sponsors7. Set the objectives, develop the Logical Framework Matrix, Plan the activities, complete budget and workplan8. Analyze potential risks, identify the causes of project failure and suggest ways in which these can be overcome9. Revisit the review criteria10. Confidentially communicate and present project idea to different interest groups

Target group
International students with all backgrounds interested in developing project proposals and managing projects. Participants on bachelor, master and PhD-level are welcome as well as professionals from different fields.

Course aim
The aim of this course is to understand how the projects are created and be able to identify the problem(s), generate and formulate project ideas, set objectives, estimate the budget, and analyze potential risks.

Credits info
8 ECTS Participants will receive a certificate of participation at the end of the summer school and all necessary documentation to validate the course at their home university.

EUR 800: Reduced participation fee for students.Early registration bonus of 200 until the 31st of December.Later registration bonus of 150 until the 31st of January.Group discount of 200 (at least 4 participants).
