Reading the Bible in Amsterdam I: Texts & Traditions
calendar_month 29 Iul 2015, 00:00
The collection of writings we call the Bible is the product of a long and difficult process of transmission. Most modern Bibles are translations based upon reconstructions of the diverse Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts making up the Old and New Testaments. This tortuous history cannot be separated from the debt the original versions owe to the contexts in which they were formed. Not only is the textual tradidion of the Bible a product of history, so too are the ideas contained in biblical writings.
